Just for people information, he never got back to me in the above deal, it has been several months since then, so I don't think he'll be back.

I am confused it it beneficial to exchange post between the forum, because in these days all search engines are smart enough and they are detecting any kind of spam and recently search engine updated their algorithms which are counting link exchange as the spam so is it still safe to exchange links or post between two websites?

Think in post exchanges as member exchanges. The people that agree to an exchange of posts are agreeing to creating an account in each other forums and following the rules of the community, so for example in a 10/10 they will answer ten threads from your forum in the same way a genuine member would, while you will answer ten threads too, just like we are doing right now.

Every poster has their own style and you can find people that actually take their time writing replies. So I'd say in most cases it is beneficial as a mean of a quick bump, plus if you make this small deals often with the same people in a way you get yourself a bunch of active members for your community so it is a win-win situation for both of you.

as for link exchanges, it depends. I have never had a page that has a link to my affiliated banner on someone else portal in the results, however I have found threads I have left in forums like this appearing, because you are giving information and because other people comment in your thread with your advertisement, I really don't think it will affect negatively your site the back links you build here.
